Disposition

The Bad Penny was on it's first mission of the day for the 344th Bomb Group on D-day, 6th June 1944, flying in the third box of the formation. The target was the coastal batteries at the Cherbourg Peninsula in France. The Bad Penny was hit by flak in the right engine and exploded into flames.
